What Does The Orange Moon Mean

Whenever the full moon is orange, it signifies completion. The full moon is believed to be the sign of a completed cycle. The orange color is associated with emotions. For example: if you are going through emotional trauma, the full orange moon might come to tell you that the time has come to move on.

For Native American tribes, the first orange moon around September signified the beginning of the winter season. This meant that all the tribe members would begin preparations for the long and harsh winters. The farmers would harvest their crops while the hunters would bring the extra game to store for the winter months.

This Moon is often orange in color, close to the Earth, and rises early. It is called the Harvest Moon because the early rise and large amount of light allows farmers to continue working in the fields later in the day and continuing the harvest. Humans can see light on the visible color spectrum.

“It tends to have a more yellow or orange hue, compared to when it’s high overhead. This happens because the moon’s light travels a longer distance through the atmosphere. “As it travels a longer path, more of the shorter, bluer wavelengths of light are scattered away, leaving more of the longer, redder wavelengths.”
